Motor vehicle registration

No Rego No Cover campaign reminds drivers to register their vehicles to be covered by the Northern Territory MAC Scheme.

The Northern Territory MAC Scheme provides personal injury cover to Territorians injured on Territory roads and is funded through motor vehicle registration.

The
No Rego No Cover campaign is a reminder to drivers and vehicle owners of the need to maintain their vehicle registration or they are at risk of not being covered by MAC Scheme if injured or killed in a motor vehicle accident while driving an unregistered vehicle.

New residents to the Territory must also change over the NT Vehicle registration within 3 months of arrive or they too risk not being cover by the NT MAC Scheme.

The campaign is supported by an enforcement campaign
Check your rego before we do to alert motorists of the risks of getting caught by NT Police who use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) to detect unregistered vehicles. Hefty fines up to $1500 apply if caught driving unregistered.
