If a claim is not accepted

A claim cannot be accepted if it does not meet the legislative requirements for MAC Scheme benefits.

In some circumstances a claim may not be accepted. This means, the claim does not meet the requirements for MAC Scheme benefits as assessed in accordance with the MAC Scheme legislation. If your claim has been denied, you will be advised of this decision and the reason in writing from TIO MAC.

Claims are assessed in accordance with the Motor Accidents (Compensation) Act 1979 and the Motor Accidents (Compensation) Regulations 1984.

If you disagree with a claims decision to not accept your claim, there are options for you to seek a review.
