Alcohol and drugs

Drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident risk losing financial support benefits.

A driver under the influence of alcohol or a drug or committing a criminal offence under the relevant state or territory laws, at the time of the accident, is not entitled to the following benefits: 



An injured driver may still be entitled to reasonable medical, hospital and rehabilitation benefits.

 

If the driver dies as a result of the accident, the family's entitlements to the following death benefits may also be reduced:
