The Michael Long Leadership and Learning Centre is changing the lives of young Indigenous Territorians. Based at TIO Stadium in Darwin, the state-of-the art sport, education and accommodation facility delivers leadership and personal development programs using sport to keep kids motivated.
MACC has a long-term partnership with the centre to help young people learn about road safety as part of a week-long residential program. Two road safety sessions are led by the NT Government’s road safety educators during each residential program.
The sessions take a serious message and make learning fun using sport, art, hands-on activities and games to communicate key road safety messages. The aim to influence generational change in road user attitudes and behaviours to reduce deaths and serious injuries in regional and remote areas.
Since 2016, more than 1400 students from 35 remote communities across the NT have participated in the residential program.
Business hours are 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday
